Chekhov Machine and Teater Mestola: SVÄLT

A TRIBUTE TO THE OBSESSION OF AN ARTIST

A young writer tormented by hunger is wandering the streets of Oslo in the search for his artistic breakthrough. His attempts to survive and irrational actions drive him even further from his goal.

In his miserable condition he becomes obsessed by his self-image, which he explores like a piece of nature in resolution.

The performance expresses the tragicomic in the artistic obsession described in

the novel Hunger (Svält) by Knut Hamsun.
The performing arts community Chekhov Machine and Teater Mestola gives this unique cavalcade of suggestive images and wild physical theater, where the stage turns into an absurd world.

Knut Hamsun was awarded the Nobel prize in 1920 and the novel Hunger is considered a groundbreaking modern classic, which has influenced the whole of Western novel literature.
