A story about how everything falls apart.

Marko Virtanen is a very successful man, who despite his riches doesn’t seem to be satisfied of anything. Sirkku Silava on the other hand is a typical young woman, who isn’t sure if her mediocrity is due to laziness or lack of talent. The destinies of these two very different characters get intertwined by chance, and with grave consequences. Who abuses who? What does success really mean? How to be a good human being in dark times? Missä nyljimme kerran is a play by Lauri Maijala, one of the most noted young directors in Finland. The play is a co-operation between Viirus and teater 90°.

The play by Lauri Maijala is about the individual in between the economic system. “Now the play really became current when Nokia was sold to Microsoft!” says Lauri Maijala. “The play has the exact same thing, only it’s about a copper mine but otherwise the situation is the same”. Lauri Maijala has written and directed the play Missä nyljimme kerran, that is soon having its premiere. Maijalas erlier work include Three sisters at KOM-teatteri and his latest work Kullervo at Teatteri Vanha Juko. Over the last few years he has been writing several plays and also directed a feature film, Gloriously Wasted. The inspiration for Missä nyljimme kerran came from the song På väg till koppargruvan by swedish prog band Blå Tåget. Maijala is known for his daring and entertaining plays where musical elements play a significant role, Missä nyljimme kerran is no exception. The play is about the modern human beings crisis, says Lauri Maijala. A person with a well payed job who doesn’t have to struggle, but who suddenly wakes up and starts to see the hopelessness in the world and in the economic systems structures. He starts to question his ability to change things and realises that he is locked. That he can’t make a change.
